Milestone!

Last week, I finished the latest revision of my first novel and I’m finally letting my husband read it, so I’m pretty excited. This story has been nearly 11 years in the making, and I’m finally pleased with beginning, middle, and end. After my first and second drafts, I knew the story needed a ridiculous amount of work, but after resolving questions from alpha readers and correcting other glaring issues, I’m feeling a lot more confident. Woohoo! I love this writer’s life.

One thing that really excited me about this draft is that I was able to finish the story arc while leaving open the possibility for the story to continue. As I’ve grown closer to the characters and explored the history behind the book’s society, I’ve come to realize that this story is well-suited for a series even though it also works as an independent book. Once this book is a little more polished, I’m really looking forward to writing my next one. Now let’s just hope that my husband doesn’t finish the book and think it’s really awful! 😉
